2025 The Year AI Coding Grew Up

2025 marked a fundamental shift for Brokk.ai, moving to a true agentic workhorse. Our mission centered on empowering humans to supervise AI rather than focusing solely on hand coding. This retrospective highlights the milestones that help define how we envision developers building software through AI assisted coding.

Eliminating Developer Friction

In the first half of the year, we focused on keeping developers in the flow. A major milestone was our Git Worktree integration, which eliminated technical friction and allowed for seamless multi-tasking within complex environments.

Setting the Industry Standard

August brought a pivotal moment with the launch of the Brokk Power Ranking. This established the first open benchmark based on in-flight large project coding tasks, striving to become a new standard for AI performance evaluation.

The Rise of Agentic Supervision

The latter half of 2025 saw the rise of our most powerful features to date:

• Lutz Mode: This introduced an agentic research, planning, and building loop. It provides developers with the control needed to navigate and master million-line codebases.
• BlitzForge: Designed for mass refactors, this tool allows for high-level architectural changes at scale.
• Plan Mode: Our end-of-year .18 update introduced this feature to further refine how assistants and developers collaborate on project goals.
